The Eco-Schools Programme is an international initiative which recognises schools that strive to make environmental sustainability an integral part of school life. It guides schools on their sustainability journey by providing a simple framework for them to adopt and rewards those that are successful with the prestigious Green Flag.
Participation in the Eco-Schools Programme prompts schools to enhance their school-based curriculum and activities for environmental education and gets the whole school united in addressing important environmental issues.

To empower students to be the change our world needs by engaging them in fun, action-orientated learning.

  • Help schools combine learning and action, to work towards environmental sustainability for the both the schools and the community
  • Accredit schools that make a commitment to continuously improve their environmental performance via the seven-step process; these schools will be awarded the internationally-recognised Green Flag

Schools that participate in the programme stand to benefit in the following ways:
  • An improved school environment
  • Holistic learning through the integration of positive environmental messages in the school’s curricular and co-curricular programmes in the school
  • Better integration with the local community through joint efforts to tackle environmental issues
  • Greater student empowerment
  • Opportunity to tap into a vast global network of schools involved in the programme
