Direct Debit Donor Programme - FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the WWF Direct Debit Donor Programme (DDDP)?

DDDP is a donation programme designed for members of the public who are interested in supporting WWF’s conservation effort and activities in Singapore on a monthly, 6-monthly or annual basis. Through our interaction with the public, we realised that many people wanted to donate to WWF’s programmes in Singapore on a regular basis, but in smaller amounts. Hence, DDDP is an answer to that request.

2) How does WWF promote DDDP?

DDDP is promoted face-to-face and it is an easily accessible and friendly method of allowing members of the public to find out more about WWF’s conservation effort and activities. DDDP is promoted at various places including events, shopping malls and at pre-approved locations throughout Singapore. This mode of engagement also makes it easier for those who do not have the opportunity to contribute through other channels, such as visiting our office and donating via website or calling us, to express their support.

3) Which parties are involved in DDDP?

There are 3 parties involved, and they are WWF, APPCO and SG Global Support Services.

We have engaged APPCO, a reputable international marketing company which sends small teams of trained fundraisers known as “WWF Appointed Representatives” to promote the WWF Direct Donor Programme (DDDP) at pre-approved venues in Singapore.

SG Global Support Services helps us to manage this programme’s administrative work.

4) How much is the monthly, 6-monthly or annual donation?

Monthly donations start at S$38 per month (only $1.26 per day) and this amount will go a long way towards our conservation effort and activities in Singapore.

6-monthly donations are set at $228 and deductions are made once every 6 months. It works out to exactly the same amount as $38 a month, except that deductions are less frequent.

Annual donations are set at $456 per year.

Note: WWF Appointed Representatives are NOT allowed to accept cash donations.

5) I am keen to consider donating to WWF Singapore. But, can I make a one-time donation instead of donating on a monthly, 6-monthly or annual basis.

As WWF is a non-governmental organisation, it does not receive any fixed grants. Our work is largely dependent on donations from good hearted individuals like you. Your generosity and donations will help us carry out long-term programmes aimed at protecting and leaving future generations a healthy living planet.

Every donation is important for us to continue our work. However, should you be keen to donate on a one-time basis, you can do so at http://donate.wwf.sg or issue us a cheque made payable to WWF – World Wide Fund For Nature (Singapore) Limited.

Mail it to354 Tanglin Road #02-11, Tanglin International Centre, Singapore 247672, Attention: Individual Donation Department.

Note: WWF Appointed Representatives are NOT allowed to accept cash donations.

6) What happens to the money that I donate? Can you give me a breakdown of how my donation will be used for every S$1 dollar that I donate?

Your donations will go towards WWF’s conservation activities and effort in Singapore. Part of your donations will also be used to offset the operating cost of these programmes. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the Planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

7) How can I make a donation?

You can donate to WWF Singapore via credit card or cheque. If you like to make an online donation, please visit http://donate.wwf.sg

8) Are my donations tax-deductible?

Donations to WWF - World Wide Fund For Nature (Singapore) Limited is non tax-deductible as we are registered as a charity in Singapore, not as an Institution of Public Character (IPC).  In Singapore, only an IPC can issue a tax deductible receipt.

9) Why doesn’t WWF Singapore use its own staff or volunteers for DDDP?

WWF Singapore is not able to bear the cost of setting up a large team to manage and carry our DDDP. This is why we are partnering with APPCO who specialises in face-to-face marketing. This partnership allows WWF Singapore to save cost and channel your donations to our conservation effort and activities in Singapore.

Face-to-face fundraising is a regular, professional job that requires long-term commitment and specific skills. While we sincerely thank our volunteers for their support, many of them have jobs and/ or commitments which mean that they are not ideal candidates for this type of programme.

10) How can I be sure that the man on the street approaching me for donations is a staff of APPCO?

All our representatives carry an ID badge and a copy of the CCA (Collectors Certificate of Authority) issued by the Police Licensing Unit which states the name and NRIC of each individual fundraiser. If in doubt, you can also contact WWF at 6730 8111 or APPCO at 6557 0120 and provide us with the full name or ID badge number of the representative that you wish to verify.

11) How can I cancel my monthly, 6-monthly or annual donation?

Every dollar is crucial to carry out our conservation activities in Singapore. Hence, we hope that we can have your continuous support.

However, if you need to cancel your donation, please contact the donor service line at 6323 2012 and we will process your request immediately. However, please allow a maximum of 30 days for the termination of credit card arrangements to take effect.
