Our Work Climate
Climate change poses a fundamental threat to everything we love. Current emissions put the world on track to breach tipping points of 1.5°C that will cause irreversible impacts to people, environments and economies.
Singapore and the SEA region are not exempted from this. As an island state, with most of the region situated in coastal zones, impacts are already felt by many communities and ecosystems here. Water supplies are shrinking, crop yields are dropping, forests are burning, and our oceans are becoming more acidic. This has huge implications for our livelihoods and human security.
We have to unite to fight and adapt to the climate crisis. If not for our own survival, then for that of our future generations.

landmarks and buildings participated in a symbolic lights out to show solidarity for the planet.
Climate change and ocean acidification amplify the impact of other threats related to human activity, such as overfishing and the destruction of marine habitats. This could spell the end of at least 25% of biodiversity in the sea, but also the loss of fishing opportunities and significant consequences on many productive sectors, such as tourism.
Flooding and contamination of groundwater from salt-water intrusion.
Compromises food and water security. Singapore imports more than 90% of our food from 180 countries. Increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather such as heat waves, droughts and hurricanes that will adversely impact our food security.

By working in partnership with the finance
industry – banks, regulators, investors –
we help align financial flows with a low carbon future.
We engage governments around the world to encourage ambitious climate action that aligns with the 1.5 degree ambitions of the Paris Agreement and achieves net zero emissions by 2050.
From Singapore to Myanmar, we equip youths with the skills, knowledge and platforms to be environmental changemakers. In Singapore, our community outreach programmes encourage positive action for the climate and nature.
