Mogesh Sababathy

Youth Climate Champions Consultant at UNICEF Malaysia

Mogesh Sababathy, a Malaysian youth climate advocate and Ph.D. student, is dedicated to raising environmental awareness among the younger generation. He champions climate literacy and empowers youth to become environmental leaders through impactful community projects. His initiatives, including Project Ocean Hope, Project Epoxonomy, and Project Map-O-Debris, have reached over 10,000 individuals across 15 countries.

Mogesh’s global engagements, which include participation in high-level UN events, have established him as a prominent youth voice advocating for effective climate action. His contributions extend beyond advocacy to shaping sustainability strategies. Mogesh has played a pivotal role in reviewing WWF-Malaysia’s ESD Strategy and collaborating on national policies, including the development of the National Planetary Health Action Plan and the National Mineral Policy. His work aligns youth perspectives with national strategies for a greener future.

As an active writer, he actively engages with the media on sustainability issues, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in addressing the climate crisis. Mogesh’s dedication to climate action has earned him prestigious accolades, including the 2021 Diana Award and the 2023 ASEAN-India Youth Award. He currently holds the positions of UNICEF Youth Climate Champions Consultant and NRECC Consultative Panel Member, focusing on inclusive climate action and advocating for youth involvement and government commitment.
