Position title: Director, Marketing & Communications
Reports to: CEO, WWF-Singapore
I. Mission of the Role: To project WWF-Singapore at the forefront of sustainability and conservation in Singapore and the region, by spearheading all integrated communications and marketing initiatives for the organization. To ensure that WWF is positioned as a locally relevant, global brand. The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for driving awareness and publicity to grow influence that constantly defines a human-centric, credible WWF brand. Safeguard the corporate identity and reputation through visuals and narratives across all touchpoints, opening doors to engage stakeholders, media, government and businesses. He/She will also establish thought leadership through successful communications strategies around WWF’s priority themes: Deforestation, Plastic pollution, Climate, Oceans, Freshwater, Wildlife and Sustainability.
II. Major Functions: Reporting to the CEO, this role requires collaborative and top leadership skill sets to effectively work with cross-functional teams by setting strategic direction, developing and implementing the overall communications strategy for WWF-Singapore – while remaining aligned with WWF’s global sustainability goals. He/She brings extensive knowledge in the sustainability arena and will lead all marketing and communications functions to ensure impact-driven, breakthrough outcomes for the environment. The individual will also oversee end-to-end projects (which include crisis preparedness), drive significant output by influencing key stakeholders across government, media, businesses and the general public. He/She will also hold global committee positions: Communications Leadership Group and Media Relations support for Asia-Pacific. The person must possess a strong analytical grasp, be good at team and budget management and adhere to WWF-Singapore’s policies and procedures, including those for procurement.
III. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing and Social Media
Oversee and support all marketing - traditional, digital and social media rollout across all channels including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to increase awareness in cross-functional WWF-Singapore projects and programmes.
Define the supporter and donor journey – encompassing initial product awareness, donation, usage experience, customer service, engagement and experience with WWF-Singapore
Brand building and External communications
Gain visibility and grow influence of WWF Singapore brand by establishing thought leadership through proactive outreach across teams and platforms.
Support key communication initiatives across Conservation, Corporate Partnerships Team, Education, Market Transformation and Policy & Advocacy Team and Sustainable Finance Team that contribute to successes and achievement of milestones for the organisation’s strategic objectives (For e.g. Committed partnerships/annual reports/initiatives/campaign launches/communications materials).
Oversee and support the rollout of WWF’s senior executive talks and engagements.
Improve the overall corporate/brand communications framework through strategic planning to create a positive brand building
Drive overall brand positioning, reach, relevance, maximise fundraising and influence in relation to Singapore’s chosen conservation priorities.
Work closely with the CEO, Senior Management Team and International Communications Team as appropriate, to set strategic direction; maintain strong interdepartmental relationships to achieve overall communications strategy
Strong understanding of WWF-Singapore’s key competencies and advocacy positions locally and internationally.
Responsible for leading the Communications team to develop and execute integrated communication plans across all WWF-Singapore channels, ensuring measurable and effective publicity output through key pillars:
Oversee overall narrative, content, support employee communications, executive communications, creation of EDMs, visuals, videos, turning impactful conservation reports to human-centric content and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships to achieve overall communications strategy
Strong media relations and understanding of Singapore’s media landscape including key KOL management. Oversee the development and implementation of media strategies for WWF-Singapore, working in cross-functional teams, and to build and grow trusted media relationships offline/online.
Develop communications materials such as digital content, press releases, statements and briefing documents. Continuously pitch for and identify story angles to secure valuable coverage. Oversee the management and facilitation of media briefings, events and interviews.
Support the local office and APAC to identify, address and manage issues and crises by setting up a crisis response team, craft holding statements, stakeholder mapping, liaise with incident leaders, internal and external stakeholders, including mainstream media to ensure accuracy of information.
Support all other organization wide communications
Manage the Communication budget effectively (allocation between media channels, agencies etc.) which results in the largest possible impact
Degree qualification with 8-10 years of working experience in Corporate Communications, Journalism, Public Relations and Marketing, particularly well versed in the sustainability and NGO arena
First-hand experience working in business, philanthropy, community development, conservation or social sector - not limited to government, international NGOs, multi-lateral institutions, think thanks/universities and the corporate sector
Good leadership and proven record of experience/knowledge of end-to-end marketing and communications management, able to independently and collaboratively come up with impact and outcome measurement and analyses
Good knowledge of conservation and environmental sustainability issues (and their solutions), especially as they relate to Singapore and SE Asia
Thorough understanding and experience in championing and communicating the benefits of nature, conservation and related commercial and financial matters to people and society, particularly in the Singapore context
Required Skills and Competencies

Has a pleasant personality and maturity, enthusiasm and ability to work with different individuals from all walks of life
Ability to work independently and be a team leader, with resourcefulness and creativity, to maintain a high level and quality of output
Experience in strategy, decision making and roadmap planning
Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills, including PowerPoint presentation content and design skills
Genuine interest in and good knowledge of sustainability related topics including nature conservation, climate change, and sustainable finance, locally and internationally
Keen aptitude for learning and ability to grasp conceptual and theoretical concepts quickly
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information from various stakeholders and make recommendations to decision-makers in a structured and consistent way
Experience in national level crisis management, including training of spokespeople in the event of crisis
Highly motivated, organised, able to perform under pressure and within tight timelines
Able to commit irregular hours when needed, particularly for crisis communications
Meticulous eye for detail and processes
Experience in social media content and management, including production process
Good interpersonal skills, multi-task and ability to follow-up
