WWF Singapore is a Singapore-registered charity, founded by WWF International  -  the global conservation organization. WWF Singapore works with corporate partners in Singapore for best practices in natural resource management, engages in communications and outreach to raise awareness of critical environmental issues and collaborates with WWF offices in the region to raise funds for important conservation programmes. The WWF Singapore office also provides a hub for regional staff of WWF and supports WWF's operational functions. It works with government, business, other NGOs and the local Singapore community to spearhead efforts to build the region’s expertise in planning and managing natural resources wisely.

  1. Profile

We are looking for an experienced Finance Director to lead our finance team and to support the management team in providing timely and transparent financial updates, cash flow forecasts and cost/benefit analyses as well as sound insights in possible opportunities/bottlenecks/risks as evidenced by the financials.  We are looking for someone with has accounting credentials but who also understands how to present financial insights to business heads so they can pro-actively manage their operations. The candidate should ideally have experience in having upgraded or improved finance systems and/or processes, to be efficient and effective.  Positive, solution-oriented attitude is a pre-requisite.

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Leads the team on day-to-day accounting, invoicing, cash management and internal financial reporting and ensures accurate and timely reporting

  • Assists the management team by providing financial insights on key drivers of their operations

  • Provides financial advice on planning and analysis for the MT of WWF Singapore

  • Liaises with auditors to ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements and standards

  • Continually reviews work practices and procedures for better operational efficiency; and potential issues in accounts, financial processes and controls and proactively raise management attention to act and resolve

  • Leads the financial planning processes including monitoring progress for various projects.

  • Ensures consistent application of WWF policies, procedures, and Network Standards.

  • Advises on operational structure of projects/programmes in accordance with Network Standards and donor requirements, taking into consideration multiple currencies and co-funding requirements

  • Produces and reviews financial reports, ensuring that expenditure is according to approved budgets

  • Provides liaison between project managers and donors as and when required

  • Identifies and communicates major funding gaps and recommends best working solutions to respective managers

  • Prepares reports for the COO.

  • Performs other appropriate duties upon request by the CEO of WWF Singapore

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in accounting or ACCA and a CPA. Suitable candidates with a university degree in finance with an MBA will also be considered.

  • At least five years of financial accounting experience within an international organization, multinational company or charity with complex donor requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Developed financial management/accounting skills are essential.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines.

  • Good knowledge of GAAP, CAS, and/or IFRS

  • Experience in Sage Accounting preferred

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills.

  • Advanced PC skills, particularly knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel software

  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency (spoken and written) in English
