Position title: Finance Executive, WWF Singapore
Reports to: Senior Finance Manager, WWF Singapore
Date: September 2019
Mission of the Department: To ensure a high performing WWF Office with efficient operating systems, professional and skilled staff, and strong financial resources, delivering corporate responsibility partnerships and fundraising for WWF’s priority conservation activities in Singapore and the rest of the WWF’s global network.
Major Functions: Responsible for ensuring that the accounting, budget management and internal financial reporting processes run smoothly and efficiently in accordance with agreed timetables and quality standards so that the accounting data and reports are accurate and complete. Manages the invoicing, collection and payments to ensure that there are sufficient funds to cover payments as they become due.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting and Budgeting:
Prepares monthly financial reports for external and internal stakeholders
Ensure financial reports and analysis are generated accurately and on a timely basis;
Support the CFO and Finance manager on the development of budgets and forecasts.
Accounts Payables:
Manages day-to-day accounting, which includes ensuring that all external vendor payments, staff claims, receipts and GL entries are coded correctly (per the accounting chart of accounts and per project codes) and recorded accurately and timely;
Reviews expense claims and supplier invoices to ensure all supporting documentation are submitted and in line with finance policies;
Ensure all payments are processed accurately and timely;
Liase with internal and external stakeholders to reconcile discrepancies in payments, invoices and receipts;
Monthly Closing:
Prepares accurate and duly supported journals for month-end closing
Works closely with finance team members to ensure monthly closing is accurate, complete and done on a timely basis.
Reviews accounting journals prepared by junior finance executive
Ad hoc & Business process improvements:
Ensure contract listings are updated accurately and on a timely basis;
Independently drive business improvement projects
Ensures that adequate internal controls are enforced at all times and proactively gives recommendations on streamlining processes.
Assists with statutory, internal and ad hoc project audits
Performs other appropriate duties upon request by Chief Financial Officer
Profile: Required Qualifications:
ACCA /Diploma in accounting/Bachelor’s degree
At least 6 years of financial/accounting experience within an international organization, multinational company or charity with complex donor requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Proactive and dynamic individual who can work independently
Strong team player who will support team members and guide junior executives
Honest, mature and has high integrity
Meticulous, detail-oriented and possess good analytical skills
Able to prioritize and operate under tight deadlines
Good communication skills, with spoken and written fluency in English
Good knowledge of IFRS
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Experience in SAGE 300 preferred
Familiarity with implementing good internal controls and processes
Hands on experience with journal entries and payment processing
An interest in conservation
