Position title: Manager, Marketing Communications

I. Mission of the Role: To place WWF-Singapore at the forefront of sustainability and conservation in Singapore and the region, by spearheading all marketing communications and marketing of the organisation to ensure that WWF is positioned as a locally relevant, globally-oriented brand. The Manager, Marketing Communications supports the Head of Communications to drive awareness and publicity that constantly defines a human-centric, credible WWF brand that safeguards the corporate identity and reputation through visuals and narratives across all touchpoints, opening doors to engage stakeholders and businesses. He/She will establish thought leadership through successful communications strategies around WWF’s priority themes: Deforestation, Plastic pollution, Climate, Wildlife, Sustainability.
II. Major Functions: Reporting to the Head of Communications, this role requires collaborative and leadership skill sets to effectively work with cross-organizational teams by setting strategic directions, developing, and achieving the overall communications strategy for WWF-Singapore – aligning with WWF’s global sustainability goals. He/She brings experience in the sustainability arena and will lead all marketing communications functions (Media Relations, Brand Communications, Crisis communications) to ensure impact-driven, breakthrough outcomes for the environment, overseeing end-to-end projects (which include social media, data, digital and marketing operations), to drive significant output influencing key stakeholders across governments, businesses, and the public. Above all, he/she must possess a strong grasp of budgeting management and procurement
III. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to set strategic marketing communications direction; maintain strong and functional interdepartmental relationships and to achieve overall communications strategy.
Strong understanding of WWF-Singapore’s key competencies and advocacy positions locally and internationally.
Responsible for leading all marketing communications (Social Media, Website, Digital, Brand Communications) by developing and execute integrated marketing communication plans across all WWF-Singapore online and offline channels, ensuring measurable and effective publicity output through key functions:
Marketing Communications: Strong understanding of the local / regional communications landscape including KOL management. Commissioning or conducting market research to understand positioning of WWF-Singapore’s brand locally, and regionally.
Establish positioning, identify target audiences, and develop marketing plans with specific objectives across different channels and segments. Oversee the development and implementation of channels strategies for WWF-Singapore, working in cross-functional teams to do so, build and grow trusted partners and stakeholders.
Oversee the production of effective promotional materials such as digital content, newsletters, impact reports to reach, interact, engage and nurture advocates.
Lead the execution of marketing programs from start to finish, leveraging internal support and driving collaboration. Creating and implementing plans to increase market share of WWF-Singapore’s followers and converting them to supporters.
Obtaining necessary consent and providing final approval on all marketing collateral, products, and promotions. Developing schedules and maintaining deadlines.
Coordinating with and managing agency partners.
Data and Digital: Analyse customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies. Oversee market data analysis and evaluation for using different applications, tools and services including websites, microsites, landing pages, EDM as a conduit for first-hand data collection and analysis of supporters and followers. Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on online content performance, ensuring website functions and software is up-to-date, and handling a range of online marketing projects from search engine optimization to social media practices. Developing content and monitoring web traffic, SEO and user engagement for content optimization. Supervising a team of website developers and designers.
Social Media: Develop, implement, and manage WWF-Singapore social media strategy with the social media as direct reports. Define critical social media KPIs in support of the overall marketing communications strategy.
Manage and oversee social media content, including measuring the success of every social media campaign.
Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies including social media marketing and monitoring tools.
Work with the social team to ensure content is informative and appealing and fulfil WWF-Singapore’s marketing objectives.
Degree qualification with 6-8 years of working experience in Marketing, Public Communications, or Marketing Communications.
First-hand experience working in business, philanthropy, community development, conservation, or social sector - not limited to government, international NGOs, multi-lateral institutions, think thanks/universities and the corporate sector.
Strong experience in end-to-end communications management in marketing, communications campaigns, social media campaigns, and other offline campaigns to engage public or large stakeholders.
Good knowledge of conservation and environmental sustainability issues (and their solutions), especially as they relate to SE Asia.
Thorough understanding of, and experience in championing and communicating, the benefits of nature, conservation and related financial matters to people and society.
Required Skills and Competencies
Must consistently practice ethical behaviour in all dealings consistent with WWF’s values and codes of conduct.
Experience in managing/executing marketing, marketing communications across commercial, government agencies and managing vendors will be an advantage.
Strong people management, engagement, and networking skills.
Ability to patiently coach, guide, and train team members.
A go-getter with a pleasant personality, maturity, soft skills, enthusiasm, and ability to work in different social environments and individuals from all walks of life.
Ability to work both independently and lead a team, with resourcefulness and creativity, to maintain a high level of output.
Experience in strategy, decision making and roadmap planning.
Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills.
Genuine interest in and good knowledge of nature conservation, climate change, and sustainable finance, locally and internationally.
Keen sense of learning and ability to grasp conceptual and theoretical concepts quickly.
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information from various stakeholders and make recommendations to decision-makers in a structured and consistent way.
Highly motivated, organized, able to perform under pressure and within tight timeline.
Able to commit irregular hours when needed, particularly for crisis communications.
Meticulous eye for detail and processes.
Experience in social media content and management, including production process.
Good interpersonal skills, multi-task and ability to follow-up.
