Position title: SEA Senior Manager, Markets

Reports to: Chief, Strategic Communication and External Relations

Location: WWF-Singapore or other Southeast Asia cities with WWF offices

Date: 30 October 2019

 

Major functions

SEA Senior Manager Transformation will be responsible for delivering and implementing the roll-out of the Support Asia for Sustainable Palm oil (SASPO) regionalization plan and Plastic ACTion (PACT) corporate engagement strategy to priority countries that choose to participate in the initiatives across Southeast Asia as a communal resource.

 

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Co-executing national strategies with local teams on sectorial and individual business engagement for palm oil and plastic-related transformation

  • Identify priority countries, convince national leadership teams, co-create a strategic plan to boost the demand of sustainable palm oil & co-execute the strategy with the national team. 

  • Identify priority countries, convince national leadership teams, co-create a strategic plan for no plastics in nature by 2030. Co-execute the strategy with the national teams with a focus on SEA and selected countries in APAC.  

  • Lead industry-wide business engagement work on plastic reduction and conversion as per the PACT initiative

  • Represent WWF at regional palm oil and plastic-related events to expand and amplify the impact of SASPO and PACT initiatives

  • Oversight and delivery of the plastic asset/resource creation and communal help desk for the APAC

  • Guide and jointly decide on key deliverables and goals for palm oil and plastic-related initiatives with participating national offices

  • Supervise Materials Expert and external consultants in the creation of solutions and other deliverables

  • Work with the SASPO secretariat on deliverables for participating national offices

 

Required qualifications

  • An advanced degree in business administration, environmental science, sustainable management or other relevant disciplines

  • 3 years experience with managing business teams or projects in Southeast Asia

  • Minumum 5 years experience in project management, corporate sustainability, environmental consultation or management consulting focusing on circular economy or sustainable commodities

 

Required skills and competencies

  • Extremely strong inter-personal skills

  • An ability to think strategically and respond rapidly to changes in business, and sociopolitical landscapes

  • Results-focused and dynamic personality who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves

  • Excellent communication, sales and public speaking skills

  • Ability to work proactively and effectively with various stakeholders including key government agencies, corporations, consumer groups, media and trade associations and mobilise their active participation 

  • Passionate about conservation

  • Excellent command of English. Another official language of Southeast Asia is highly desirable

  • In-depth understanding of sustainable commodity supply chains, circular economy and plastic value chains
