WWF-Singapore announces Vivek Kumar as its new Chief Marketing and Communications Director

November 2, 2021

SINGAPORE, 2 November 2021 — The World Wide Fund for Nature Singapore (WWF- Singapore) today announced the appointment of Vivek Kumar as the new Chief Marketing and Communications Director with immediate effect.

As Chief Marketing and Communications Director, Vivek will lead campaigns focusing on conservation and climate change goals such as deforestation, haze pollution, food security, plastics, sustainable finance, sustainable consumption and illegal wildlife trade. He will be working with communities, businesses and governments to advocate for positive change.

“I have always been driven by a sense of purpose, from volunteering in my college days, to my recent role with the Singapore Labour Movement supporting union members. As the 2021 IPCC report highlights, there is really no time for us to lose when it comes to the health of our planet. I started out as a donor to one of WWF-Singapore’s initiatives and it soon became my dream job to join the organisation as a Panda. I feel a deep sense of purpose and gratitude as I join the efforts of my colleagues in spreading WWF-Singapore’s mission,” says Vivek Kumar, Chief Marketing and Communications Director of WWF-Singapore.

With his new role at WWF-Singapore, Vivek shares that his leadership style centers around “peer- powered learning” that will help to foster meaningful connections among team members. “As a leader, it is important to have empathy so that we can support our peers and colleagues. I am excited to be joining a driven, highly capable and diverse team at WWF-Singapore. I hope to engage individuals and companies in creating greater awareness through human-centric angles that support our mission and Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 goals,” added Vivek.

Vivek brings more than 20 years of diversified experience in management and strategic communications. Prior to joining WWF-Singapore, he has served with the Singapore Labour Movement in various roles since 2010. He was an Assistant Director-General (ADG) and Director of the Membership Services Division with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). In his most recent role as Director of Strategic Marketing and Omnichannel Monetisation at the NTUC FairPrice Group, Vivek helmed two portfolios – to provide marketing leadership for over 160 Cheers and FairPrice Xpress convenience stores across Singapore and to set-up FairPrice Group Media.

Vivek has been a board member of Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and Assurity Trusted Solutions Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) since 2018.

Vivek is active in the marketing community as honorary Chairman of the Asia Pacific Advisory Board of the Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council. He is also Member, Digital Committee at the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) and a lifelong fellow of the Institute of Directors, India (IOD).
