WeGotThis

Social media platforms are constantly evolving and no longer used just for selfies and blogs but can now be used as a platform to do good.

Social media platforms are constantly evolving and no longer used just for selfies and blogs but can now be used as a platform to do good. Youth now have the opportunity to adopt a special role in instigating change and action on pressing global issues, as climate change and sustainability become more commonplace in our lives. Youth can now harness the power of social media to communicate as a green advocate.

WeGotThis is a youth-led incubator programme which aims to empower a generation of digital natives to use their strengths to become sustainability advocates. The programme is geared towards youth aged 18 – 30 years old who care about sustainability and want to learn how to contribute towards positive environmental and social impact via digital advocacy skills.

The programme is designed to build and equip youth in the following areas –

  1. Awareness
Equipping youth with the relevant skills and knowledge they will need to execute strategic campaigns which fosters public outreach and ultimately, creates a youth-led movement on sustainability.
  1. Confidence
Empowering youth by building up their confidence to speak on global issues, providing them a platform in which their voices can be heard and showcasing the power of individuals.
  1. Access
Providing youth with access to key industry players in the sustainability industry who can share their insights and also give them better visibility which could lead to attractive career and internship opportunities.
Milestones of WeGotThis
Master ClassBoot CampIncubatorGraduation
Participants attend master classes on topics pertaining to sustainability and social media.Selected participants join a boot camp to learn more about campaign development and refine their ideas.Participants have 5 months to work independently on their campaigns. The graduation ceremony is a celebration of the participants journey throughout the programme.
Mentorship – Participants are paired with mentors who are key players in the industries the youth are focusing on.Awards are presented to winning participants of various categories.
Ask Me Anything – Panel discussion events which allow participants to interact with experts and ask questions.

As part of the 3-year expansion plan for WeGotThis, we aim to engage with participants through more in-person events and hands-on workshops. This will help take our youth beyond the screens and build them into a green advocate who not only talks the talk but also walks the walk. By doing so, we can put the passionate bright young minds of WeGotThis in the next workforce generation, driving real change and creating a true impact.

SPOTLIGHT

The boot camp helped to get the momentum going for me and it ensures we enjoy what we are doing. They gave me insights into the world of sustainability. – Louis Chan, Singapore. (Sustainable Finance Simplified)

It has opened doors for conservations with many youth members in my community and created a platform where people can reach out to me for information and adapt it in their daily lives – Megha Jha, India. (The Sustainability Series)

I would never have dared to have a climate education project of my own. I never imagined that I could unite my passion for art with my career. I keep learning and improving, but it is already a success to have more than 300 followers and growing; I think it has a promising future. Everything, absolutely everything about the programme has served me well. – Fernanda Galvez, Peru
