Climate Business

Working with businesses in Singapore to drive the transition to a net zero economy

HOW CAN BUSINESSES ADDRESS THE CLIMATE CRISIS?

With a growing global mandate under the Paris Agreement, the need for the corporate sector to change is critical.

WWF recognises that business and industry have a key role to play in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, as well as implementing climate-smart technologies and innovations.

There are clear benefits for businesses to take immediate action on climate including:

  • Reducing energy use and emissions can cut operating costs and drive efficiency.
  • Companies demonstrating leadership on climate can improve their reputation and position with customers, suppliers, investors and regulators, as well as reduce their exposure to climate risks.
  • Taking ambitious climate action can help businesses stay ahead of future policy changes and climate regulations.
  • Companies can foster innovation in their organisations and attract engaged, talented staff who want to work for a business with strong values.

Taking climate action simply makes good business sense.

TRANSFORMING MARKETS

WWF-Singapore is engaging with businesses to broaden corporate participation and take action on climate change throughout their supply chain. Our work with companies starts from supporting them on the sustainability journey and committing to take climate action. We eventually help them align with a 1.5°C world by achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

We will bring the expertise from our global network on topics like the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), best energy practices, carbon markets and sustainable finance to help companies become the stewards of the green transition that is already swiftly unfolding in Asia.

Together, we demonstrate that climate action is vital, achievable, practical and compatible with corporate growth.

How we help businesses decarbonise:

  1. Inspiring action and leadership: Bringing together market leaders that have set ambitious targets in Singapore and the region
  2. Training and Workshops on Corporate Business Action: Build capacity for corporates to develop a deeper understanding on taking meaningful and continued climate action
  3. Guidance on SBTi: Provide insights and guidance on adoption of the leading standard for target setting based on the latest climate science
  4. Sectoral Transformation: Share best practices and connect high-impact sectors to develop pathways that deliver the vision of sustainable development

Climate Science and Target-setting

Supporting companies to set ambitious climate targets and provide guidance in achieving these targets. This includes support for

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to set science-based climate targets

Energy Transition

Strengthen and accelerate renewable energy development and increase energy efficiency

Carbon Market

Develop capacity on growing carbon markets to ensure meaningful and strategic adoption for corporate decarbonisation
